Observing land based bingo halls – they have their regulars who sit in the same places with the same people, meeting up with fellow bingo fans and sharing a conversation before silence arrives in time for the bingo game.
Some might say that the community in online bingo is somewhat anti social but I disagree. Unlike land based bingo, online bingo chat rooms open up the opportunity to meet people from everywhere in the world. People in different circumstances, people with completely different lives to you and people you may not have ever found yourself speaking to if you had met in real life. Bingo chat room communities are diverse, filled with all ages, all sexes and all types of people from different backgrounds, areas and cultures which is refreshing.
I find the land based bingo community shockingly far more anti social than chatting in an online bingo community as people usually turn up to a land based hall with a friend or two in tow and make conversation or interact with none other than the people they’re with.
In an online bingo situation, people may find they have more confidence to openly start a conversation with a stranger as opposed to striking up a conversation to a person in the next seat to them in a bingo hall.
Put it this way – you can’t have a full blown conversation about life and the weather at 3am in a bingo hall! But in an online bingo room, this is an everyday occurrence…
